The Fallows was first born on a 8 metre by 4 metre allotment in a small village in the Royal Forest of Dean. I fell in love with growing plants and I knew that I had finally found something that made me feel at home. Each morning as I left the house for my day job, I would feel the call of the land, yearn for my feet to totter down the path and submerge my hands and mind into the soil.
After nights filled with ‘land for sale near me’ searches it soon became clear purchasing wasn’t an option.
Life took over for a little while, until I scrolled along an instagram post, totally by accident, advertising an acre to rent on a regenerative farm. I met Dan from Roots In a few weeks later.

No dig gardening is at the foremost of the techniques used to grow our flowers. Inspired by Charles Dowding’s on going work into soil health and the positive effects of leaving the earth unturned.
Only organic matter is added to our soil meaning our flowers are perfume filled and fume free. After they have had their time in the sun every effort is made to return them to the plot for composting. Flowers that aren’t sold or picked are dried or left to go to seed. Seed that is produced in the land that it will be planted in is already adapted to the habit it is growing into. Meaning the plants are more adapted than the seeds brought from the shop,
